Question 818527: My teachers grading scale is a little different.. 120% instead of 100%, I'll explain:
Quizzes are 20%, test are 60%, exercises are 10%, and the final is 30%. So when calculating my average using my quizzes, test, and exercises I have an 88. So what do I need to make on the final to get an 91 in the class?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Q= average of all quizzes
T= average of all tests (not including the final)
E= average of all exercises
F= grade on the final
The average is calculated as
0.2Q%2B0.6T%2B0.1E%2B0.3F
If 0.2Q%2B0.6T%2B0.1E=88
and you want 0.2Q%2B0.6T%2B0.1E%2B0.3F=91 ,
that is 88%2B0.3F=91 ,
0.3F=91-88 ,
0.3F=3 , and
F=3%2F0.3 so you want F=10 .

In college, I once did that kind of calculation and skipped studying for the final, because I did not need the points. The instructor was not pleased with me. He told me so in no uncertain terms. Fortunately, some time passed until I had to take another course with the same instructor.
