Question 817384: how can you tell if this pair of equations are parallel, perpendicular, or neither? y=(-5/2)x+11 and -5x+2y=20 Answer by ewatrrr(24785) (Show Source):
Hi,
how can you tell if this pair of equations are parallel, perpendicular, or neither?
put them both in standard slope-intercept form for an equation of a line
y = mx + b where m is the slope and b the y-intercept. m = -5/2
-5x+2y=20 0r m = 5/2
NEITHER parallel(slopes are not the same) 0r perpendicular (slopes are not negative reciprocals)
