then "four less than me" = x - 4
and "the absolute value of the quantity that is four less than me" = abs%28x-4%29
and "the absolute value of the quantity that is four less than me [is fifteen]" would be:
abs%28x-4%29+=+15

To solve this we start by rewriting it as two equations. One just like this one except there is no absolute value:
x-4+=+15
then, because this is an equation, the word "or":
x-4+=+15 or
then another equation with the negative of the other side:
x-4+=+15 or x-4+=+-%2815%29

Now we solve these:
x+=+19 or x+=+-11
