You can put this solution on YOUR website!
There are 60 seconds in a minute, and there are 60 minutes in an hour, so you need to multiply 3.31 \x10^4 by 60, to find out how far sound travles in 1 minute, and then by 60 again to find out how far sound travles in an hour.
Essentially, you need to multiply 3.31*10^4 by 3600 (to find out how far sound travles in one hour) because 60*60 is 3600. You can multiply 3.31*10^4 by 3.600*10^3,because you get the same answer.
You can do a few things here.
1. (3.31 x 10^4) x 3600. For this you multiply 3.31 by 3600 and then multiply that by 10^4, or you can convert 3600 in scientific notation first to 3.6 x 10^3 and then multiply 3.31 by 3.6 and then by 10^4 and then by 10^3 (like this:
3.31 x 3.6 x 10^4 x 10^3) because then the result will already be in scientific notation.
Remember: When you multiply a number by itself you add to the power that it is multiplied by, so 10 x 10 = 10^2, because any number to the power of 1 is itself, so 10 x 10 is the same as 10^1 x 10^1. Therefore 10^n x 10^m = 10^m+n.
The answer is (3.31 x 3.6) x (10^4 x 10^3). And last, solve for the numbers inside the parentheses which I'll let you do by your self.
