You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let one side = x inches
The second side = 20 inches (Given)
So, the hypotenuse = (x+10) inches. (Given)
As per the Pythagoras theorem,
Hypotenuse = sqrt%28%28side%29%5E2+%2B+%28other+side%29%5E2%29
So, (x+10)^2 = %28x%5E2+%2B+20%5E2%29
= x%5E2+%2B+20x+%2B+100+=+x%5E2+%2B+400
= x%5E2+-+x%5E2+%2B+20x+=+400+-+100
= cross%28x%5E2%29+-+cross%28x%5E2%29+%2B+20x+=+300
= So, x+=+frac%28300%29%2820%29; x = 15
So, the unknown side = 15 inches. Answer.
I guess, it is clear to you. God bless you.
