5x+3y=8075 and 3x+5y=6925

Three basic ways to go. Solve both for one variable, equate and solve for the value of other variable; solve by substitution; solve by elimination.

The least advanced way:
3y=-5x%2B8075
y=-%285%2F3%29x%2B8075%2F3
and 5y=-3x%2B6925
y=-%283%2F5%29x%2B6925%2F5
y=-%283%2F5%29%2B1385
Equating the two formulas for y,
highlight%28-%285%2F3%29x%2B8075%2F3=-%283%2F5%29x%2B1385%29, and solve for x.
