Question 814148: Bob and Billy are loitering on a street corner when Robby, to whom they owe money, suddenly approaches. Bob begins running southward at 12 miles per hour and Bill begins running westward at 12 miles per hour. How far apart are Bob and Billy after 20 minutes?
I drew out the triangle and converted miles per hour to miles per minute, but I wasn't sure what to do after that.
Thanks!
Stephanie

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
20 minutes is 1/3 hour
12*1/3=4
the two legs are 4 and 4
16+16=c^2
32=c^2
sqrt(32)=c
sqrt(4*4*2)=c
4 sqrt(2)=c
5.66 miles
