Question 80993: Hello out there,I need some help with some math problems that I'm having a hard time with,the first one is,Determine the y-intercept of the graph:-3x-5y=15.The next one is,Determine the slope and y-intercept of the graph:3x+y=8.The next one is,Determine the slope and y-intercept of the graph:-x+2y=4.And the last one is,Change y=x-3 so that the graph of the new equation has a steeper,negative slope and the same y-intercept.Thanks to whoever can help me.

The key to all of these problems is to rewrite the given equation of the line in slope/intercept form. That is:
y=mx%2Bb
Where m=slope and b=y-intercept.
So for your first problem:
-3x-5y=15
Solve it for y to get it into slope/intercept form:
-5y=3x%2B15
y=-3x%2F5-3
Now that the equation is in the right form, you can just read off the slope and y-intercept:

highlight%28y-intercept=-3%29
Armed with this explanation, you should be able to handle the rest of the problems.
