Question 80918: Trying to help my son with this problem. Which is an equation of the line with Slope 2/3 that passes through the point (4, -1). Could you please show the steps. I'm stumped on this one. Choices:
f. y = -1/4x + 2/3
g. y = -4x + 2/3
h. y = 2/3x - 5/3
j. y = 2/3x - 11/3

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Y=mX+b WHERE m=SLOPE & b=Y INTERCEPT.
NOW REPLACE THE X WITH 4 & Y WITH -1 AND 2/3 FOR THE SLOPE WE FIND THE Y INTERCEPT (b).
-1=2/3*4+b
-1=8/3+b
b=-1-8/3
b=(-3-8)/3
b=-11/3 THUS THE LINE EQUATION IS:
J) Y=2/3X-11/3
