You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a landscape worker can lay sod in a yard in 6 hours. a helper would take 8 hours to do the same job. how long would sodding the yard take if both people worked together?
----------
Worker DATA:
Time = 6 hr/job ; Rate = 1/6 job/hr
-----------
helper DATA:
Time = 8 hr/job ; Rate = 1/8 job/hr
---------------
Together DATA:
Time = x hr/job ; Rate = 1/x job/hr
----------------------------
EQUATION:
worker rate + helper rate = together rate
1/6 + 1/8 = 1/x
4x + 3x = 24
7x=24
x=24/7 hrs
x= 3 3/7 hr
(3/7)60min = 25.7 minutes
x= 3 hr 25.7 min
