Question 808247: Hi I'm really finding it difficult to solve this problem. I would really appreciate someone's help. The question is as follows:
Four cylindrical containers are placed in a box. The radius of each cylinder is 5cm. The height of each cylinder is 20cm, and the height of the box is also 20cm. The volume of the box is 8000cm cubed. Find:
a) the volume of the 4 cylinders
b) the volume of the empty space inside the box

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Four cylindrical containers are placed in a box. The radius of each cylinder is 5cm. The height of each cylinder is 20cm, and the height of the box is also 20cm. The volume of the box is 8000cm cubed. Find:
a) the volume of the 4 cylinders
b) the volume of the empty space inside the box
radius of cylinder = 5cm
height = 20 cm
no of cylinders = 4
volume of cylinder = pi*r^2H
Volume of 4 cylinders = 4 * 3.14 *5^2*20
=6280 cm^3
Volume of box =8000
empty space = 8000-6280= 1720 cm^3
