Question 807420: A car A is approaching at a speed of 10m/sec another car B moving in the opposite direction at a speed of 20m/sec distance b/w cars is 300m
A fly whose absolute speed is 50m/sec goes repeatedly from A to B and back, without loosing any time at any of the cars. This repeated moving back and forth stops when the two cars crash into each other. Answer the following:
(i) The distance traveled by the fly before the collision is _______m.
(ii) The number of trips made by the fly back and forth is _________

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A car A is approaching at a speed of 10m/sec another car B moving in the opposite direction at a speed of 20m/sec distance b/w cars is 300m
A fly whose absolute speed is 50m/sec goes repeatedly from A to B and back, without loosing any time at any of the cars. This repeated moving back and forth stops when the two cars crash into each other. Answer the following:
(i) The distance traveled by the fly before the collision is _______m.
(ii) The number of trips made by the fly back and forth is _________
Car A speed = 10m/s
car B speed = 20 m/s
combined speed = 30m/s since they are approaching each other
distance = 300 m
time they crash = 300/30 = 10 seconds
Speed of fly = 50 m/s
time it flies is 10 seconds
so distance it travels = 50 * 10 = 500 meters
