You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Frank needs to apply a 10% liquid nitrogen solution to his rose garden. He only has a 4% nitrogen solution and a 20% nitrogen solution. How much of each should he mix if he needs 10 gallons of a 10% nitrogen solution
----------
Equation:
nitro + nitro = nitro
0.04x + 0.20(10-x) = 0.10*10
-------
4x + 20*10 - 20x = 10*10
-16x = -10*10
-----
x = 50/8
x = 6.25 gallons (amt. 4% solution needed)
----
10-x = 3.75 gallons (amt. of 20% solution Needed)
