You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Bus-----------x miles------------ 40 mph
time by bus = x/40
Train--------(450-x) miles--------95 mph
time by train =(450-x)/95
Total time = 8.5 hours
Time by bus + time by train = 8 .5 hours

x/40 + (450-x)/95 = 8.5
multiply equation by 40*95
95x+40(450-x)=8.5*40*95
95x+18000-40x=8.5*40*95
55x=32300-18000
55x=14300
x=18.260 miles time on bus
Time on train = 450-260=190 miles
time on train = 190/95
2 hours
