Question 805872: a person can run at 5 miles per hour and bike at 8 miles per hour. the person was planning to bike the whole distance, but along the way, he got a flat and had to run the rest of the way. The total time to make the trip was 5 hours and the distance was 30 miles. How far did he make it until the tire went flat?
I can not figure out how to set this up, can you help? thanks!!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x+y=5,
8x+5y=30
x = 5/3, y = 10/3
8*5/3=40/3 miles by bike and 50/3 running
