Question 805437: Determine the values of the trigonometric functions of t if P(t) lies in the second quadrant and on the line
y = −3x.
How do I find the values of sin(t), cos(t), tan(t), cot(t), sec(t), and csc(t)?
Thank you for your help!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Determine the values of the trigonometric functions of t if P(t) lies in the second quadrant and on the line
y = −3x.
-------
slope = -3
slope = tangent = y/x = -3/1 = 3/-1
So y = 3 and x = -1
----
Therefore r = sqrt(3^2+1^2) = sqrt(10)
-------

How do I find the values of sin(t), cos(t), tan(t), cot(t), sec(t), and csc(t)?
-----
sin(t) = y/r = 3/sqrt(10)
cos(t) = x/r = -1/sqrt(10)
tan(t) = y/x = -3
csc(t) = sqrt(10)/3
sec(t) = -sqrt(10)
cot(t) = x/y = -1/3
