To find the vertical asymptote in these kind of problems, you need to look at the denominator.
Here we have %28x%2B8%29%5E2.
You put this equal to 0.
%28x%2B8%29%5E2=0
%28x%2B8%29=0
x=-8
that is your vertical asymptote
