You can put this solution on YOUR website! If they divide the profits equally everyone receives 4800/3 = $1600. If they divide profits proportionally to investment x receives 9000/(9000+7000+4000) = 9000/20000 = .45 of the profits. That's .45 * 4800 = 2160.
 x receives $560 less by dividing profits equally.

If the profits are $4,800 how much less does X receive if the profits were divided in proportion to the amount invested? ------
 Solve: 9000k + 7000k + 4000k = 4800
 ----------
 20000k = 4800
 k = 0.24
 ------
 X receives = 9000*0.24 = $2160
 Y receives = $1680
 Z receives = $960
