If you would please explain and "show your work" as to how you arrive at your answer it would be greatly appreciated.

That is a long-division problem, unless your friend
knows something about synthetic division::

4)....3....-5....-32....7

......3.....7....-4...|..-9

Quotient:: 3x^2 + 7x -4
Remainder: -9
