You can put this solution on YOUR website! let numerator be x
denominator be y

x+y=12..................(1)

(x+3)/y = 1/2

2(x+3)=y

2x+6 =y

substitute y in (1)

x+2x+6=12

3x+6=12
3x=12-6
3x=6
/3
x=2
y=10

The fraction is 2/10
