0.5 + 0.866 = 1.366 <> 1

Substitute and solve for cos(x):
sqrt(1-cos^2)x + cos(x) = 1

sqrt(1-cos^2(x)) = 1 - cos(x)

Square both sides to get:
1-cos^2(x) = 1 - 2cos(x) + cos^2(x)

2cos^2(x) - 2cos = 0
cos^2 - cos = 0
cos(cos-1) = 0
cos(x) = 0 or cos(x) = 1
