You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let +d+ = the distance the slower horse travels in 2 hrs
+d+%2B+4+ = the distance the faster horse travels in 2 hrs
Let +r+ = the rate of the slower horse
--------------
Equation for slower horse, which is b:
(1) +d+=+r%2A2+
Equation for faster horse, which is a:
(2) +d+%2B+4+=+8%2A2+
---------------
(2) +d+=+16+-+4+
(2) +d+=+12+
and
(1) +d+=+2r+
(1) +r+=+d%2F2+
(1) +r+=+12%2F2+
(1) +r+=+6+
Horse b is traveling at 6 mi/hr

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let B ride at x mph
A rides at 8 mph
difference in speed = 8-x mph
Time t = 2 hours
distance d = 4 miles
d = rt
4=(8-x)2
4=16-2x
2x=12
x=6 mph speed of B
