You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3x - 4y = -26
x - 6y = 11
multiply the second equation by 3 and subtract it from the first:
3x - 4y = -26
3x - 18y = 33
14y = -59
14y/14 = -59/14
y = -59/14
substitute -59/14 for y in the first equation to get x
3x - 4(-59/14) = -26
3x + 118/7 = -26
3x + 118/7 - 118/7 = -26 - 118/7
3x = -300/7
3x/3 = (-300/7)/3
x = -100/7
check:
3(-100/7) - 4(-59/14) = -26
(-300/7) (-118/7) = -26
-26 = -26
x - 6y = 11
(-100/7) - 6(-59/14) = 11
(-100/7) - (-177/7) = 11
11= 11
