You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Mark drove from Los Angeles to Rosarito at a speed of 50mph. On the way back, he drove at a rate of 60mph. The total trip took 4.4 hours of driving time. Find the distance between the two cities.
.
Let t = time (hours) it took to drive from LA to Rosarito
then
4.4-t = time (hours) it took to drive from Rosarito to LA
.
50t = 60(4.4 - t)
50t = 264 - 60t
110t = 264
t = 2.4 hours (speed from LA to Rosarito)
.
Distance then:
50(2.4) = 120 miles
