I use the long way, less chance of a mistake:
3(x + 5)^2 + 2x(x + 5)
3(x^2 + 5x + 5x + 25) + (2x^2 + 10x)
3(x^2 + 10x + 25) + (2x^2 + 10x)
(3x^2 + 30x + 75) + (2x^2 + 10x)
3x^2 + 2x^2 + 30x + 10x + 75
5x^2 + 40x + 75
5(x^2 + 8x + 15)
5(x + 3)(x + 5)
check:
5(x + 3)(x + 5)
5(x^2 + 5x + 3x + 15)
5(x^2 + 8x + 15)
5x^2 + 40x + 75
