You can put this solution on YOUR website! Solve the system by the elimination method. 5x-y=-14+2x+y
 7x+9y+4=3x+8y
 solve eq.1
 eq.1 5x-y=-14+2x+y
 first combine the similar terms
 5x-2x-y+y=-14
 then proceed to cancellation of like terms:
 5x-2x-y+y=-14
 3x       =-14
 solve eq.2
 eq.2 7x+9y+4=3x+8y
 first combine the similar terms:
 7x-3x+9y-8y=-4
 then proceed to cancellation of like terms:
 4x+y=-4

 combine the answer in eq.1 and 2
 by elimination method we have:
 3x  =-14 (minus)  4x+y=-4
 the answer is:    -x+y=-10
 multiplying both side by -1 we have
 -1(-x+y=-10)-1
 final answer:  x-y=10

 Solve the system by the elimination method.
 5x-y=-14+2x+y
 7x+9y+4=3x+8y

 Combine like terms in eq (i) to get: 3x - 2y = - 14 ------ eq (i)

 Combine like terms in eq (ii) to get: 4x + y = - 4 ------ eq (ii)

 Solve the system to get:
  and
 Then do a check!!
