You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A paint job can be done by 10 men in 6 hours or by 18 boys in 4 hours.
that's 60 man-hrs, or 72 boy-hrs a can do the same job, therefore
60mh = 72bh
divide both sides by 12 h
5m = 6b
:
If only 5 men and 8 boys are available and all work together, how long would it take them to do the job?
let h = no. hrs required by this situation
From the above we know we can replace 5mh = 6bh
solve the equation using 72 bh to do the job
6h + 8h = 72
6h + 8h = 72
14h = 72
h = 72/14
h = 5.14 hrs for 5 men and 8 boys
