SOLUTION: Use the elimination method to solve the system of equation
2x-y=16
3y=2x-24
I turned the last equation into 2x-3y=24, but after that I got lost when I added 2x + 2x = 4x

Question 792702: Use the elimination method to solve the system of equation
2x-y=16
3y=2x-24
I turned the last equation into 2x-3y=24, but after that I got lost when I added 2x + 2x = 4x and 16 + 24 = 40. I don't know what to do from there. Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! solve the system of equation
2x-y=16
3y=2x-24
-----
Rearrange::
2x - y = 16
2x -3y = 24
------
Subtract and solve for "y":
2y = -8
y = -4
------
Solve for "x":
2x -y = 16
2x + 4 = 16
2x = 12
x = 6
--------
