You can put this solution on YOUR website! when you have an equal sign, means you have to keep both sides balanced. (whatever you do on one side of the equation, you have to do on the other)
3x + 5 = 71
we want to solve for x, to start off with, lets get rid of the 5 by subtracting it from both sides..
3x = 66
now we divide both sides by 3 to get x by itself
x = 33
