You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How many gallons of 5% acid solution should be mixed with 20 gallons of a 10% acid solution to obtain an 8% acid solution? Please show work.
================
Equation:
acid + acid = acid
0.10*20 + 0.05x = 0.08(20+x)
----------------------
10*20 + 5x = 8*20 + 8x
-3x = -2*20
x = (2/3)20
x = 13 1/3 gallons (amt. of 5% solution needed)
----------------------
