In order to "undo" the "e" raised to the power, you must take the ln of each side of the equation. Remember that the ln%28e%5Ex%29=+x+:

ln%28e%5E%28x%2B4%29%29+=+ln%286%29+

Finally subtract 4 from each side:
x=+ln%286%29+-+4
x= -2.208 approximately.
