Question 790137: Find the x and y intercepts of this absolute value equation.
y= |2x-3|+2x+6
(In my answer document it says the answer is x intercept: none; y intercept: (0,9). I just don't understand how that's the right answer)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Find the x and y intercepts of this absolute value equation.
y= |2x-3|+2x+6
----------------
x intercept ?
Let y = 0
Then |2x-3| = -2x-6
---------
2x-3 = -2x-6 or 2x-3 = 2x+6
4x = -3 or "contradiction"
x = -3/4
----------------------
y intercept ?
Let x = 0
Then |-3| = -6
Contradiction.
====================
Conclusion:: No y-intercept ; x-intercept = -3/4
