1. A carpenteer presents you with a bill for $423 including labor and supplies. If the carpenter charges $40 per hour for labor and $163 for supplies, how many hours did he work?
2. You deposit a total of $4,000 in two accounts. One account pays 5%interest and the other pays6% interest. At the end of the first year, the interest is $223.60. How much interest was invested in each account?
Just wanna understand how to do these examples.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I am not so sure about #2, but for #1, you need to write an equation. H= # of Hours worked, so Your equation would be 40h + 163 = 423. What we are saying is that $40 times the number of hours worked, plus a 163 Dollar fee would be at a total of 433. If you solve this equation, you will have the answer. This works for most problems like these.
