Question 787159: If the perimeter of a tennis court is 228 feet and the width is three less than half the length, what are the dimensions of the tennis court? Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Length = x
Width = x/2 - 3
Perimeter = 2*length + 2*width
228 = 2(x) + 2(x/2 -3)
228 = 2x + 2([x - 6]/2) In bracket common denominator = 2)
228 = 2x + x - 6
3x = 228 + 6
3x = 234
x = 78
Length = 78 feet
Width = 36 feet
Hope this helps.
