You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A man walks from one town to another in 5 1/2 hrs. Had he
walked 1/4 of a km faster, he would have reached his destination
36 2/3 minutes earlier. Find the distance b/w the two towns and the
rate at which he walked.
let his rate be x km/h
5.5-0.61 =4.89 hours ( time taken after increasing sped)
distance is same
d=rt
5.5x = (x+1/4)*4.89
5.5x=4.89x+1.22
5.5x-4.89x=1.22
0.61x=1.22
x=2 mph
distance = 11 km
