You can put this solution on YOUR website!
An experienced accountant can balance the books twice as fast as a new accountant. Working together, it takes the accountants 10 hours. How long would it take the expereinced accountant working alone.
----------------
Exp accountant DATA:
Time = x hr/job ; Rate = 1/x job/hr
----------
New accountant DATA:
Time = 2x hr/job ; Rate = 1/2x job/hr.
-----------
Together DATA:
time = 10 hr/job ; Rate = 1/10 job/hr.
=========
EQUATION:
rate + rate = rate together
1/x + 1/2x = 1/10
3x/2x^2 = 1/10
30x=2x^2
x=15 hr (time for experienced accountant to do the job)
2x=30 hr (time for the new accountant to do the job)
==========
