You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I need to find the domain, range, y-intercept,x-intercept and symmetry for
Y=1/(x-5). So for I have the Domain as (infinite,5) u (5,infinite) and my Range at x=1-5/y .That is as for as I have been able to get. Please help me!!
----------------------
Domain looks good.
Range: Can you think of any value you could not substitute for y?
Can 1/anything be zero? Hmmm? If 0=1/(x-5) then 0=1?
So the Range is all Real numbers excluding y=0.
y-intercept: Let x=0, then y=1/5
x-intercept: Let y=0 then ? We found that y cannot be zero; so no x-intercept.
Symmetry:
f(x) = 1/(x-5)
f(-x)=1/(x+5)
-f(-x)= -1/(x+5)
None of these are equal to no symmetry.
