Question 784173: A pennant is in the shape of ann isosceles triangle. Isosceles triangles have two equal sides. The company that will make the pennant charges according to the perimeter. The team can afford a pennant with a perimeter of 147 centimeters. If each equal side of the triangle is 12 centimeters more thatn the third side, fine the lengths of all the sides of the pennant. You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Call the unknown 3rd (unequal side) x. Call the two equal sides x+12, since they're 12 cm more than the other side. The sum of the three is 147.

x + x + 12 + x + 12 = x + 2(x+12) = x + 2x + 24 = 3x + 24 = 147

3x = 123

x = 41 cm. That's the length of the unequal side.

The other two, equal, sides are 41+12 = 53 cm.

41 + 53 + 53 = 147 cm.
