Question 782910: Shania has scores of 76 and 81 on her first two tests. If she wants an average of at least 80 after her third test, what score must she make on her third test? Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
If she does end up with an average of 80, then you had to have divided some number by 3 to get 80. Whatever that is must be the sum of the three test scores. So 3 times X minus the sum of the two scores she has already is the smallest score she can get on the third test and still average X.
