You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Solve each of the following quadratic equations by completing the square.
x^2-6x-3=0

x^2 - 6x - 3 = 0
x^2 - 6x + ___ = 3

x^2 - 6x + 9 = 3 + 9
(x - 3)^2 = 12
x - 3 = +-sqrt+%2812%29
x - 3 = +-sqrt+%284%2A3%29
x -3 = +- 2 sqrt+%283%29
x = 3 +- 2 sqrt+%283%29
x = 3 + 2 sqrt+%283%29 or x = 3 - 2 sqrt+%283%29

I'm just adding onto the previous poster's work...
Note: when you take a square root you get

+x+-3+=0%2B-+sqrt+%2812%29 (plus or minus the square root of 12)

+x+=0%2B-+sqrt+%2812%29%2B3 Add 3 to both sides
So you should have 2 answers:

+x+=sqrt+%2812%29%2B3 or +x+=-sqrt+%2812%29%2B3
Which reduce to
+x+=2%2Asqrt+%283%29%2B3 or +x+=-2%2Asqrt+%283%29%2B3
