Question 781830: I have to reduce each rational expression to lowest terms.
X squared + 5x - 14
_______________
2 - X
I have have 7 times -2 = -14
7 + -2 = 5
which would give me (X squared - 2x) + (7x -14) factored =
X (x -1) + (x + 7)
and now I am totally lost, I hope you can understand what I was thinking, thank you so much for your help!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The numerator factors into (x+7)*(x-2)
The denomerator factors into -(x-2)
You can then cancel (x-2) from denominator and numerator and we get
(x+7) / - which is
7 - x
