Multiply thru by (x+6)(x+1) and you have:
5(x+1) + 2 = 3(x+6)
:
5x + 5 + 2 = 3x + 18
:
5x + 7 = 3x + 18
:
5x - 3x = 18 - 7
:
2x = 11
:
x = 11/2 = 5.5
:
