You can put this solution on YOUR website! If Bill rides his beke 3 mi to Fred's house and then walks with Fred the remaining 1mi to school, it will take him 30 min. But if he rides the entire distance, it will take hime only 20 min. Find his biking speed and walking speed.
----------------
It is 4 mi from where Fred starts to the school.
He takes 1/5 hr to bike 4 miles
bike rate = d/t = 4 mi/(1/5)hr = 20 mph
-------
The 3 mi Bill bikes to Fred's house will take him d/r = 3mi/20mi/hr= 3/20 hr
3/20 hr * 3/20 (60 min)=9 minutes.
So he walked 1 mi in 21 min or (21/60)hr
His walking rate is d/t = 1mi/(21/60)hr = 60mi/21 hr = 2.857 mph
