Additive inverse of 2.15p;
Additive inverse of -4;
Simplify;
Identify the coefficient on the p term;
Multiplicative inverse of the coefficient on the p term.

That is a precise list characterizing the steps to find p, but not actually the steps performed. Follow the listed characterization and you should succeed in finding p.

1.03p - 4 = 2.15p + 8.72

1.03p - 2.15p = 8.72 + 4 ------ Subtracting 2.15p, or adding - 2.15p to both sides

- 1.12p = 12.72

p+=+12.72%2F-+1.12, or highlight_green%28p+=+-+11.35714286%29

You could have also multiplied the entire equation by 100 to get rid of the decimals, and end up with: 103p - 400 = 215p + 872.

Either way will work!!
