Question 779396: Can I get help with Solving Systems please?
Solve The System
5(x+1)-(y+3)=-6
2(x-2)+3(y-1)=0
Using the Distributive property, I get..
5x+5-y-3=-6
2x-4+3y-3=0
The correct answer is (-1, 3) however, I keep ending up with fractions and the standard form of Ax+By=C and cannot figure out what im doing wrong. Any help of how to get to the correct answer of (-1,3) would be appreciated! thank you!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! 5x-y+2=-6
5x-y=-8
y=5x+8
------------------
2x+3y=7
2x+3(5x+8)=7
2x+15x+24=7
17x=7-24
17x=-17
x=-17/17
x=-1
-----------
2*-1+3y=7
-2+3y=7
3y=9
y=9/3
y=3
(-1,3)
------------
5x-y=-8
5*-1-3=-8
-8=-8
