Let +c+ = the cost of the shirt
+c+%2B+240+ = the cost of the jacket

Now I can say:
+2%2F5+=+c+%2F+%28+c+%2B+240+%29+
Multiply both sides by +5%2A%28+c+%2B+240+%29+
+2%2A%28+c+%2B+240+%29+=+5c+
+2c+%2B+480+=+5c+
+3c+=+480+
+c+=+160+
+c+%2B+240+=+400+
The shirt costs $160
The jacket costs $400
