If both negative, then 5-2x=-x-2
5+2=2x-x
7=x
If both positive or zero, then 2x-5=x+2
x=2+5
x=7
If first is negative, second is positive, then 5-2x=x+2
5-2=x+2x
3=3x
x=1
If first is positive, second is negative, then 2x-5=-x-2
3x=-2+5
3x=3
x=1
ANSWER: x is 1 or x is 7
