The LCD is 4x because the denominators are 2, x, 4 and the LCM of those terms is 4x. This is the smallest multiple they all have in common.

Multiply EVERY term by the LCD 4x to go from

1%2F2+%2B+2%2Fx+=+3%2F4

to

4x%281%2F2%29+%2B+4x%282%2Fx%29+=+4x%283%2F4%29



2%2Ax%2A1+%2B+4%2A2+=+x%2A3

2x+%2B+8+=+3x
