Let us suppose that he travelled x km on foot and y km on cycle.

So the total distance travelled is: x%2By=80 ________ (1)

Again, total time taken = time taken on foot + time taken on cycle
8+=+x%2F8+%2B+y%2F16
128+=+2x+%2B+y _______ (2)

Substituting for y from (1) in (2)
128+=+2x+%2B+80+-+x
x+=+48
Therefore, y=80-48=32
