one number is x the other one is 2x/3 their sum is 50
x+2x/3=50
3x/3+2x/3=50
5x/3=50 multiply each side by 3/5
x=50(3/5) reduce 50 and 5 by 5
x=10(3)
x=30
so one number is 30 then the other one is 30(2/3)=10*2=20
check: 30+20=50
